This is our biggest issue yet, content wise, but due to a new method of Digital Mastering, courtesy of Intensity, it's as small as Issue #4. As far as we're concerned, this is the finest issue. Ever. Contents: 1) Downloading from the Website 2) Unzipping & Running 3) Tips & Suggestions (Resolution Issues Here) 4) Troubleshooting. (HELP ME!) 5) Credits - Who made this all possible -1.-Downloading from the web site.------------------------------------------- a) Make a directory on your C:\ or whatever drive via MY COMPUTER, Now select the hard drive, and then FILE. NEW FOLDER. Name it DGN. a) Back to the web! Click on the DragonSworn Issue #5 icon suiting your system, ie: Win95 or Win31. Now select save-as from the menu, keep the filename, and specify x:\DGN (x being your hard drive, usually C:)as the directory you want the file to 'land' in. b) Read some Jordan while it Dl's. Should be around 45 minutes at 28.8, in case of server lag, could be longer. Either leave it overnight, or just leave it running. c) After its completely DL'ed, Download UNZIP.EXE if you don't have it. Follow the DL'ing instructions in step (a). This should take 2 minutes. If you have UNZIP.EXE, then head directly to stage (2). -2.-Unzipping and Running.--------------------------------------------------- a) Open a DOS window, This can be done via START, PROGRAMS, MS-DOS Prompt. Head to the directory the file 'landed' in. If you DL'ed UNZIP.EXE, it should also be there. Type: UNZIP DGN5-32.ZIP (for win95 machines) UNZIP DGN5-16.ZIP (for win31 machines) WIN 95 b) If you're error free up until now, head back to windows. (If you did have problems, head to troubleshooting). In Windows, it's time to change res. Right click on the desktop pick properties, then the settings tab, and make sure you're in 256 color mode. If you have a high end pentium, you can give 16bit, or even 24bit a shot. 32bit+ does NOT work. Your computer may ask you to reset, do so. To make changing your color depth easier, download QuickRes from our website. (19kb) OPTION b) Having your resolution changed, just about read. Close all major programs. On win95, it is suggested you increase the bass of your soundcard. This will only last for one session: Do this: START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, MULTIMEDIA, Volume Control. Increase Main VOLUME, FAR LEFT, to a higher value. Click on ADVANCED, and increase BASS to mid or high. c) Select RUN from Program Manager (Win31) or the START menu (win95) Select browse. Head to the 'Landed' directory, (should be C:\DGN) and click on the .EXE file. (it should have a PROJECTOR icon). You're done! d) Once the files are unzipped, you can save space by deleting the ZIP file, as the expanded file (*.exe) has been built. Just use MY COMPUTER or del *.zip. -3.-Tips and Suggestions.---------------------------------------------------- To get the most out of Dragonsworn, crank the BASS! Music is recoreded for HI Bass, so... Go to START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, MULTIMEDIA, VOLUME CONTROL, then ADVANCED and change the bass as you see fit. Turn the lights off! Glare blows, and DGN4 is a newrave magazine, which has defined art tones. Definition improves without ambience light. If video playback is choppy, or the magazine seems slow, make sure you've closed all programs, are not multi-tasking, and are running in 256 color mode. If you have the system, Pentium 100+ and lots of RAM, TRY running in HI or even TRUE color mode. Go to START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, DISPLAY. Then head to settings via the tabs on the top, and change the palette to HI or TRUE color. This can cause SEVERE performance drops... So you might wanna change it back. ;) Want to improve video acceleration for games/multimedia? Most computers are factory set to this, but hit START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM, Then head to performance via the tabs on the top. See where the button says GRAPHICS at the bottom? Click on it, and move HARDWARE ACCELERATION to full if its not alreadly there. -4.-Troubleshooting: Unless you HAVE a problem, don't read on!--------------- Won't Unzip!
